Southland Celebrate Maiden Win

The Southland Men's Interprovincial Team have won the Toro Interprovincial title for the first time in 61years. They defeated Bay of Plenty 3-2 in the final after a sound win over Auckland 3 1/2- 1 1/2  in the semi finals.

It was a truly outstanding effort from the whole team.

Vaughan McCall was in brilliant form when it really mattered, Cody Harper captained the team well, Matt Tautari was unbeaten and player of the tournament and Liam Balneaves also had a good tournament.

Tyler McLean, who went up as travelling reserve, played on day one in Vaughan’s absence, then caddied for Scott Hellier for the rest of the tournament. This was Scott's first time at the Toro Interprovincial and he had a great tournament.Corey, too, was obviously a great influence on the team. He was always confident they would win and, in the end, the team proved him right.
