Latest update from New Zealand Golf
Yesterday the Prime Minister announced that from 11.59pm Thursday 2nd December, New Zealand will move to the new COVID-19 Protection Framework, otherwise known as the Traffic Light system.
Auckland will move to red, while we will learn what level the rest of the country will move to after Cabinet meets on Monday 29 November. The decision will be based on regional vaccination rates and case numbers. Settings for the rest of New Zealand will either be red or orange. No region will move to green.
Having a set date does give us time to get ready, even while we wait for further and final details. Click Here to check what the general rules are at orange and red.
From a golf perspective, we encourage golf clubs to start considering the implications of operating at Orange and Red. While the specific details for golf are yet to be confirmed, opening hospitality facilities, having gatherings or running events will be either not be allowed or heavily restricted for unvaccinated members and guests.
We are expecting sport sector-specific guidance later this week and we will in turn release updated guidance for the golf sector to align with the new traffic light system. We will keep you updated as soon as we can.
