Golf Southland Women’s Pennants

The Tuatapere team of Bronwyn O’Brien, Christene Dennison, Fiona Gray and Glenda Templeton have won Golf Southland’s Women’s Pennants competition, which was played between 16 clubs at Winton on Monday.

The Winton team of Janet Anderson, Leda Beck, Barbara Wilson and Michelle Charlton were runners-up, and third place went to the Waikaka team of Dianne Cleland, Janis Steel, Lois Byars and Sue Stewart.

Christene Dennison won the Glen Speirs Trophy for the best individual over the field, with an impressive 45 points.

Vice Presidents Pennants

The latest round of the MLT Vice Presidents Pennants competition saw wins to Winton, Gore and Invercargill.

The round was played at Gore and saw Winton defeat Greenacres 1, 4-2, Gore beat Greenacres 2, 6-0 and Invercargill defeat Queens Park 4 ½ – 1 ½.

The next round will be played on 11th May at Invercargill.

ILT Great Southern Challenge

ILT Great Southern Challenge

The ILT Great Southern Challenge continued at Queens Park on Sunday, and the home team took the most round points with Queens Park on 388, Invercargill 371 and Greenacres 359.

Queens Park’s Ben McGregor was the senior men’s top scorer (42 points), Invercargill’s Mike Gutsell also scored 42 points in the men’s junior section and Queens Park’s Sharon Cronin was the top female with 43 points.   

After two of three rounds scores are tight. Queens Park lead on 734 over Greenacres (731) and Invercargill (720).

The third and final round will be played at Invercargill next month.

Winton Club Champs

Winton Golf Club’s Club Champions have been decided after the finals played out recently; supported by a good number of spectators.

Simon Boland won the Senior Men’s Championships in a match that went to the 38th hole, Kevin McCallum won the Intermediate title, Graeme Carroll won Junior A, Peter Kane won Junior B and Grayson Dolan won Junior C.

For the ladies, Sharon Milne won the Silver title, Margaret Nicolson won Bronze A and Barbara Wilson won Bronze B.

Gold Cup

The ILT Gold Cup of Golf will be played at SBS Bank Invercargill Golf Club on April 28 and 29.

The popular annual pairs competition is open to men, women or mixed pairs and includes a 4BBB Stableford on the Saturday and a 4 Ball Aggregate Stableford on the Sunday.
